About

Tonya Wilhelm

Photographer, Writer, Speaker

Tonya Wilhelm has incorporated a splash of story telling into her career from the beginning. As an award-winning and internationally published photographer, Tonya used her professional photography business, Wilhelm Photography, as a platform for opportunities in the writing world. Starting out by having her own fine art published in numerous magazines, she broke into the book world by taking professional headshots for authors, creating custom book covers, and guest-blogging in the photography market.

Tonya’s ability for visual story-telling led her photo illustrate the book Necessary Rules for Children in Pennsylvania Dutch Country (History Press, 2015.) The book was an unusual undertaking for the publisher, but was accepted for publishing due to the marketing platform Tonya has as an artist. As an avid member of the West Branch Writers Critique Group and an attendee at the annual St. Davids Christian Writers Conference, Tonya was invited to teach a workshop on social media marketing for writers to help other authors create effective marketing platforms for their own creative endeavors. She is now coaching a a growing number of authors on marketing their craft professionally, and has started to build her own following as an author and coach to authors.

Diving into the fantasy world is like second nature to Tonya who has spent the last several years creating whimsical pieces of art and writing an annual Christmas mystery piece for the local newspaper. Recreating the mermaid has been a reoccurring theme in her work. She is well know for her water portraits, mermaid fashion fine art photography, and has even photographed newborns as mermaids.
